Do you think being an employee is tough? Try entrepreneurship!

So, you are an employee? Lucky u!

Some employees envy their employers and cry that they are having a very bad life as an employee. They think that they are working and employers are making money. But do they ever think if they were employer then what would they be going through? I don't think so.

What some people don’t understand is, as an employee one doesn't have to care about many things in day-to-day life. Being an employer/entrepreneur for last 4+ years, here is what I feel employees don't have to worry about.

  • You don't have to worry about paying salary to your staff.
  • You don't have to worry about finding good candidates and hiring new employees.
  • You don't have to worry about hired candidates not turning up on date of joining.
  • You don't have to worry about your best developers leaving your company at any moment.
  • You don't have to worry about developers leaving company without any prior notification or intimation at any point and leaving the project all messed up.
  • You don't have to worry about employees taking leave without any notification while working on critical projects.
  • You don't have to worry about your client calling you at 3AM and complain about the issue on his website.
  • You don't have to worry about working on critical issue (created because of your employee's mistake) till late and have dinner at midnight.
  • You don't have to worry about no supply of drinking water, leakage of tap water or sweeper not coming for a day.
  • You don't have to worry about fixing internet connection or electricity outage.
  • You don't have to worry about paying Advance Tax, Service Tax, Professional tax every quarter.
  • You don't have to worry about paying TDS every month before due date.
  • You don't have to worry about company audit, accounting and each and every bills for everything you purchase.
  • You don't have to worry about paying electricity bill, internet bills, tea bill, water bill every month before due date.
  • You don't have to worry about your employees double crossing you and getting in direct contact with your best clients.
  • You don't have to worry about keeping straight face after hearing the funniest answer given by candidate in the interview. (Well, that's on a funny note. Happened with me couple of times :) )

I am sure most of the employers / entrepreneurs can relate to this as they have to go through all these stuff if they are starting from scratch. In big organizations, there would be dedicated people handling different things so this won't stand true but, well, someone has to start from zero.

So, respect your employers! They have done and are doing all those things which you might not have thought of. ;-)

P.S.:Even if being an entrepreneur one has to manage multiple things, take risks and go through all the odds, I would still prefer to be an entrepreneur any day! Wait for my next blog "Why it rocks to be an entrepreneur?"
